Style by State: Houston Strong

Southern class only begins to describe Houston.

It’s a city of diversity. A place where cowboy grit meets urban refinement. From multicultural neighborhoods to Fortune 500 companies, Houston attracts residents from all walks of life. It’s a city of culture, where homegrown eateries cross paths with world-renowned museums.

But above all, Houston is a city of strength. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, locals have faced challenges with bravery, tenacity, and perseverance.

At our NationServe of Houston location, we’ve stood with those affected by the disaster—customers and staff alike. The task of rebuilding homes and communities will likely continue for years. And, we’re right with Houstonians through it all. Our support began with garage door discounts for flood victims, and will continue with a fundraiser during the holiday season.

Recently, our Houston sales team participated in our Style by State interview to give a flavor for the city’s one-of-a-kind spirit and style.

How would you describe Houston’s style?

“As the fourth largest city in the United States, Houston offers homes in the downtown and Heights area with diverse architectural styles, including Victorian, Craftsman, and Colonial. Rice Military is known for contemporary townhomes and single-family homes. Houston is also surrounded by outlying master-planned communities with a wide variety of homes.”

Houston is filled with eclectic architecture. Mostly built at the turn of the 20th century, centrally located homes feature textured exteriors, decorative trims, and regal columns. Outer districts start looking newer and more thoughtfully planned, with multi-family buildings and recreational opportunities to attract homeowners.

Which garage door designs and products are most popular?

“Wayne Dalton’s Classic Steel Garage Doors 9100 are the most popular with Houston builders, followed by Wayne Dalton’s Carriage House Garage Doors 9405. Because of the diversity of the Houston metropolitan and outlying areas, Wayne Dalton’s Wood Garage Doors 7100, Modern Glass Garage Doors 8800 and Designer Fiberglass Doors 9800 are also in high demand.”

Houstonians are all about variety. Boasting both contemporary and classic panels, Wayne Dalton’s Classic Steel and Carriage House Garage Doors look beautiful on homes of all kinds. Plus, they’re constructed with thermally efficient steel and strong backers to protect against inclement weather.

Can you share a NationServe project that best showcases Houston’s style, trends, and lifestyles?

“We recently installed Modern Glass Garage Doors in an apartment complex. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the full-view garage doors open up the indoor recreation area to the outdoor pool.”

In Houston, much of life happens outdoors. Our Modern Glass Garage Doors seamlessly connected this living space with the natural beauty surrounding it.

In the face of the adversity, Houston has reacted with unity and resilience. The city may be rebuilding, but its southern character and grace remain strong.

At NationServe, we’re keeping our hearts and minds close to Houston. No matter the challenge, we’re right there with the cities we serve. Whether you need a new garage door or a service appointment, across the United States, we’re here to help.
